Martha Montag Brown

Martha founded Martha Montag Brown & Associates, LLC more than 25 years ago after a successful career in philanthropy and corporate affairs heading up the Levi Strauss Foundation and global Community Affairs group. Having worked directly in foundation and corporate roles earlier in her career, Martha brings unique insight into the field and a deep national network of colleagues and experts. She has advised a wide range of organizations, from some of the world's most recognized foundations to start-up foundations and family offices. Martha received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, where she currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of Regents.

Martha also serves as Vice President of the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation where she is active in advocacy and fundraising efforts to secure more funding for research, and the development of treatments and a cure for Myotonic Dystrophy, a rare genetic disease that has significantly impacted her family. She has donated many hours, and the resources of her practice, to numerous pro bono searches for a variety of other non-profit organizations. Martha and her husband live in La Cañada, CA, and she is the mother of three adult children who all work in technology.

Elissa Kittner

Elissa has worked in executive search for Martha Montag Brown & Associates, LLC for the last 20 years. She has worked on more than 125 senior-level philanthropic searches nationally for a wide range of foundation and family office clients. Elissa came to executive search after working in corporate responsibility for a decade.

She served as a Vice President with Business for Social Responsibility and held roles in Corporate Affairs at Levi Strauss & Co., where she worked on a variety of corporate responsibility issues, including global sourcing, human rights, environmental policy, and philanthropy. Earlier in her career she worked in the non-profit sector as the Director of Strategy and Planning for the Community Action Commission in Santa Barbara. Elissa received her undergraduate degree from Brown University and has an M.A. in Organizational Development from City University. Elissa and her husband live in Berkeley, CA, and she is the mother of two young adults.
